Obverse description Laureate head of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Bostra mint. The imperial effigy is depicted with a laurel wreath and bare neck, set within a circular field. A Greek legend surrounds the portrait, reading ΑΥΤ ΚΕϹΑΡ ΑΝΤωΝΙΝΟ (Emperor Caesar Antoninus), distributed around the periphery of the flan. The engraving displays the somewhat rough execution typical of Arabian provincial bronzes of the Severan period.
