Reverse description The xoanon-style cult statue of Apollo Didymeus depicted standing, facing right, in the rigid frontal-archaic tradition associated with the great sanctuary at Didyma near Miletus. The nude deity holds a stag in his extended right hand and a bow in his left, attributes directly referencing the oracular Apollo worshipped at the Didymaion. The encircling Greek ethnic legend ΜΙΛΗϹΙΩΝ, reading outward, identifies the issuing city. A dotted border frames the design.
