Additional information

Tanagra's bronze coinage of the late Hellenistic period was issued under the loose framework of the Boeotian League, though individual poleis retained the right to strike their own civic bronzes. By the late second century BC, Boeotia was recovering fitfully from the catastrophic Roman sack of Haliartos in 171 BC and the destruction of Koroneia — regional minting activity was as much a signal of civic revival as economic necessity.
