Beschrijving voorzijde Three-towered castle façade depicted in relief at center, with a prominent central gateway surmounted by crenellated battlements on the flanking towers. Five six-petaled rosettes distributed symmetrically around the castle in the field. The design is rendered in a somewhat schematic, medieval style characteristic of Genoese colonial coinage. No legend present. The flan is irregular and the strike is typical of hammered bronze production.

Beschrijving keerzijde Cross pattée occupying the center of the die, with a rosette in each of the four quarters formed by the cross arms. A countermark consisting of a pellet-in-annulet surrounded by radiating rays, itself enclosed within a larger annulet, is applied within an incuse punch. The entire reverse type is set within a recessed (incuse) area, consistent with the countermarking practice employed on Genoese colonial issues of Chios.
