Corinth's colonial coinage under Tiberius was administered by local duoviri, Roman magistrates whose names appear on the issues and allow individual emissions to be dated with unusual precision for provincial bronze. This piece falls within the narrow window of 32–33 AD, a year defined in Judaea by the crucifixion of Jesus — a coincidence that has made Corinthian bronzes of exactly this moment objects of considerable theological curiosity, though their production had nothing to do with events in the east.
RPC I, 1164 is a scarce type. Corinth's colonial mint was active but not prolific, and small bronzes circulated hard in a port city.
