| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Caracalla facing right, depicted as a youthful prince. The Greek legend encircles the effigy along the periphery of the flan, reading Μ ΑΥ ΑΝΤΩΝ ΑΥΓ, abbreviating the imperial titulature Marcus Aurelius Antoninus Augustus. The die work is characteristic of the provincial mint at Nicaea, rendered in a bold but somewhat provincial style with a dotted border. |
