Reverse description Athena standing facing with head turned to the left, her right hand extended to present a patera, her left hand resting upon a grounded spear held vertically. A round shield rests at her feet to the lower left, a common attribute in civic bronze coinage of Bithynia. The goddess is rendered in the traditional Promachos-influenced style, and the ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is inscribed in the field, identifying the issuing city of Nicaea.
