The altar rests on a low base with horizontal mouldings visible below. The ethnic legend ΝΙΚΑΙΕΩΝ is distributed around the design in the field, identifying the issuing city of Nicaea. The composition is typical of Bithynian civic bronzes honoring Roman imperial cult through sacrificial imagery. |
