Reverse description A stag standing to the right, depicted in full profile with antlers raised, occupying the central field of the reverse. The stag is the sacred animal of Artemis of Ephesus and a frequent type on Ephesian civic coinage. The ethnic legend ΕΦΕϹΙΩΝ is disposed around the field. The design is encircled by a dotted border, and the engraving, though of modest provincial quality, conveys a naturalistic rendering of the animal.
