| Beschrijving keerzijde | A serpent-entwined staff (caduceus or Asklepian staff) shown upright in the central field, with a large serpent coiled around the shaft and its head raised at the top, an iconographic device associated with healing cults prominently venerated at Hierapolis in Phrygia. The encircling Greek legend names the magistrate responsible for the issue and the civic ethnic of Hierapolis, disposed around the periphery in two lines or a continuous circular arrangement. The reverse type and magistrate's name are consistent with civic bronze issues of the Conventus of Cibyra under Nero. |
