| Obverse description | Draped bust of Claudia Octavia facing right, her hair arranged in the Julio-Claudian fashion. A star appears in the right field beside the portrait, a dynastic symbol frequently employed on provincial coinage of this period. The Greek legend ΟΚΤΑΟΥΙΑ is inscribed around the bust, identifying the empress. The engraving reflects the provincial workshop style of Ionian mints under Nero's reign. |
