Clazomenae, one of the twelve Ionian cities on the Aegean coast of Asia Minor, struck provincially under the Smyrna conventus — the Roman judicial circuit that grouped smaller cities under a regional assize center. The reversed Ζ appearing in the ethnic ΚΛΑΖΟΜΕΝΙΩΝ is not a copyist's error but reflects a documented die-cutter's idiosyncrasy specific to this issue, making it a useful attribution anchor when the flan is otherwise poorly centered.
