Mostene was a minor Lydian city whose civic coinage under Hadrian reflects the broader explosion of Greek imperial bronze issues that followed his accession — Hadrian's extensive tours of the eastern provinces actively encouraged local mints to produce honorific civic issues, and small centers like Mostene seized the opportunity. The city's output under his reign is sparse, making survivors from this magistracy genuinely scarce in any condition.
