| Beschrijving voorzijde | Laureate and draped bust of Elagabalus facing right, depicted in the provincial style typical of Moesian civic coinage. The imperial titulature surrounds the effigy in Greek characters, filling the field to left and right of the portrait. The bust displays paludamentum on the left shoulder, consistent with the emperor's military presentation on provincial bronzes of this period. |

| Aanvullende informatie |
Marcianopolis, the principal city of Moesia Inferior, operated its mint with unusual consistency through the Severan dynasty and into the reigns of the soldier-emperors, producing a dense run of provincial bronzes that served local circulation in the lower Danube region. Elagabalus's four-year reign ended with his murder by the Praetorian Guard in 222 AD, after which his name was subjected to damnatio memoriae — making any surviving issue bearing his titulature a deliberate survivor of official erasure.
