Obverse description Laureate head of Elagabalus (attributed with uncertainty) facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of the Mesopotamian mint of Carrhae. The effigy occupies the central field of the flan, with the imperial titulature legend disposed around the periphery. The coin is struck on an irregular flan showing the typical fabric of this provincial issue, with patina obscuring some surface detail.
