| Obverse description | Laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Emperor Elagabalus facing right, seen from the rear, with the imperial paludamentum visible over the cuirass. The encircling Greek legend reads ΑΝΤΩΝΕΙΝΟϹ ΑΥΓ, identifying the emperor by his adopted dynastic name Antoninus Augustus. The flan shows a small pierced hole at the lower left, indicative of later suspension use. The portrait style is characteristic of eastern provincial workshop engraving of the Severan period. |

| Reverse description | A single Greek letter Alpha (Α) centered within a neatly rendered laurel wreath tied at the base, the letter serving as a civic or agonistic designation denoting 'first' or 'foremost' among the Ephesian coinage series. The surrounding wreath is composed of tightly arranged laurel leaves radiating symmetrically around the central device. The peripheral legend ΕΦΕϹΙΩΝ encircles the wreath, identifying the issuing city. The reverse design is typical of Ephesian civic bronze coinage of the early third century AD, employing the laurel wreath as a symbol of civic pride and agonistic distinction. |
