| Obverse description | Laureate head of the emperor Domitian facing right, rendered in the provincial style typical of the Ionian mint of Samos. The portrait displays the characteristic features of Flavian imperial iconography, with the laurel wreath encircling the head. The encircling Greek legend reads ΔΟΜΙΤΙΑΝΟϹ ΚΑΙϹΑΡ, identifying the emperor as Domitian Caesar. The flan is slightly irregular, as is common for struck provincial bronzes of this period. |
