| 裏面の説明 | Nike, the goddess of victory, advancing right in dynamic posture, her wings spread behind her. She holds a victor's wreath extended forward in her right hand and a tall palm branch in her left. The figure is rendered in the fluid, active style typical of late first-century Ionian provincial bronzes. The ethnic legend ΖΜΥΡΝΑΙΩΝ ('of the Smyrnaeans') is inscribed in the left field. |

Smyrna was one of the most politically aggressive cities in the province of Asia when it came to cultivating imperial favor, and the Domitianic period saw the city deepening ties with Rome through a sustained program of honorific coinage. Domitian's reign ended in assassination and damnatio memoriae in 96 AD, meaning issues struck in his final years — including this one — were almost immediately politically awkward, likely explaining why so few show heavy circulation wear.
