| Obverse description | Laureate head of the emperor Commodus facing right, rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Bithynian civic coinage. The laureate wreath is clearly delineated with individual leaves, and the portrait exhibits the curled hair and short beard associated with Commodus in his later reign. The Greek imperial titulature legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The flan is slightly irregular, as is typical of hammered provincial bronzes of this period. |
