| Reverse description | A tall, upright palm frond, decorated with a fillet tied at its base, occupies the central field of the reverse. The frond is rendered with carefully detailed leaflets branching symmetrically from a central stem, a motif associated with victory and honorific symbolism in the Hellenistic and early imperial traditions. The Greek legend is divided into two vertical columns flanking the palm frond: ΙΕΡΑΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ to the left and ΠΑΠΙΑΣ to the right, identifying the issuing city of Hierapolis and the local magistrate Papias responsible for the emission. |
