| Reverse description | Lion standing to right in the field, head turned back to look at a star placed above its hindquarters, a type closely associated with the ancient civic coinage of Miletus referencing the city's Apolline religious traditions. The figure of the lion is rendered in a compact, stylised manner typical of small-module Ionian provincial bronzes. A partially legible Greek magistrate's legend and ethnic inscription border the type. The flan surfaces show heavy encrustation and wear consistent with circulation and subsequent burial. |
