| 背面描述 | Frontal cult statue of Artemis Ephesia depicted in the characteristic xoanon pose, standing rigidly upright with arms extended forward and the lower body rendered as a tapering pillar-like form without lateral supports. The figure displays the distinctive multiple-breasted or egg-adorned torso associated with the Ephesian Artemis type, surmounted by a polos crown. The abbreviated civic ethnic ΑΒΥ appears in the field flanking the upper portion of the idol, identifying the issuing city of Abydus. |

Abydus, positioned at the narrowest point of the Hellespont, had been strategically critical since antiquity — Xerxes built his famous pontoon bridges there in 480 BC, and the city retained enough local prestige under Roman administration to continue issuing its own civic bronze well into the imperial period. The magistrate abbreviation ΑΒΥ identifies the issuing authority as the city itself rather than a named official, a convention common to smaller Asian conventus mints under Trajan.
