The monogram ΒΑ (abbreviation of ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ, 'of the King') appears to the left of the central devices. A border of dots or beaded cord encircles the design. The composition is bold and schematic, characteristic of Thracian client-kingdom bronzes of the Augustan period. The Greek legend ΣΕΒΑΣΤΟΥ runs partially around the periphery, associating the issue with the authority of Augustus. |
