Obverse description Central field occupied by the Greek letter Κ (kappa), serving as a denomination mark, rendered in bold relief. Surrounding the central device, a circular Greek legend runs around the periphery of the flan. The coin is struck on an irregular, somewhat crude flan typical of Alexandrian provincial bronze issues of the Julio-Claudian period. The surface displays a blue-green patina consistent with extended burial, and the strike is characteristically off-center, as is common for hammered Alexandrian Æ coinage of this era.
