| Beschrijving keerzijde | A bull standing to the right in high relief, depicted with naturalistic musculature against a plain field. The ethnic legend ΜΥΤΙΛΗΝΑΙΩΝ ('of the Mytileneans') is arranged around the periphery in Greek characters, identifying the issuing civic authority of Mytilene on the island of Lesbos. The bull motif is a traditional symbol of civic pride and sacrificial virtue in the coinage of this region. The flan is irregular and slightly convex, as typical of provincial bronze issues of this period. |
