| Beschrijving keerzijde | A lion standing left with head turned back to the right, a prominent civic type associated with Miletus, the lion being the city's emblematic device. A star appears in the upper field above the animal's back. The encircling legend ΜΙΛΗϹΙΩΝ ΕΠΙ ΡΟΥΦΟΥ identifies the issuing city and the presiding magistrate Rufus. The overall style is consistent with Milesian civic bronze coinage of the Hadrianic era. |

Miletus struck bronze issues under Hadrian in considerable variety, naming local magistrates (grammateis) on the reverse as a mark of civic administration — Rufus being one of several officials recorded across the series. The practice of naming the presiding magistrate on provincial bronze was standard across the Ionian conventus, but it also means these issues can be precisely sequenced within a reign when the magistrate's tenure is independently attested.
