Alexandria's municipal bronze issues under Hadrian used regnal year dating — "L ΙΑ" places this piece in year 11 of his reign, corresponding to 126/127 AD. Hadrian visited Egypt in person that year, one of the most consequential imperial tours of the province on record, during which he witnessed the drowning of his companion Antinous in the Nile and subsequently ordered his deification.
