| Obverse description | Laureate, draped bust of Emperor Gordian III facing right, with paludamentum visible on the left shoulder. The effigy is rendered in the Roman imperial portrait tradition, exhibiting youthful features characteristic of this emperor. The obverse legend ΑΥΤΟΚ ΓΟΡΔΙΑΝΟϹ in Greek characters curves around the bust within a dotted border, identifying the emperor with his imperial title. The flan is irregular, as is typical of this provincial bronze issue, and the relief is moderately high. |
