| Reverse description | Turreted and draped bust of the Tyche of Edessa facing right, wearing a mural crown, rendered in the civic tradition of Mesopotamian provincial coinage. The Tyche personifies the protective fortune of the city, her distinctive turreted headdress symbolising the city walls. A partial Greek legend surrounds the bust in the field, partially illegible due to wear and flan limitations. The reverse design is typical of Edessan civic issues of the Severan period. |
