| Obverse description | Draped and cuirassed bust of Severus Alexander facing right, seen from the rear, with the imperial effigy rendered in the provincial style characteristic of Mesopotamian civic coinage. The legend ΑΛΕΞΑΝΔΡΟϹ is inscribed around the bust in Greek characters. The flan is irregular and slightly thick, consistent with local hammered production at Edessa. Surface shows typical green patination with areas of brown bronze visible beneath. |
