Domitian's relationship with the Greek provincial mints was largely administrative — coins bearing his name were struck by the koinon as a gesture of loyalty rather than imperial directive, and Larisa served as one of the primary minting centers for Thessalian bronze throughout the first century. The koinon itself had functioned as a regional federal body since the Hellenistic period, and Rome allowed it to continue issuing small bronzes for local exchange well into the imperial era.
