Obverse description Bare head of Augustus facing right, rendered in the idealized Hellenistic portrait style characteristic of early imperial provincial coinage. The emperor's features are depicted with youthful idealization, the hair rendered in short strands swept forward across the brow. The Greek legend ΚΑΙΣΑΡΕΩΝ curves around the left field, identifying the issuing civic community of the Caesareans of Tralles.
