Obverse description Laureate head of Gaius Caesar (the future Augustus) facing right, rendered in the Hellenistic portrait tradition with finely detailed hair beneath the wreath. The portrait displays a naturalistic, slightly idealized physiognomy characteristic of early Imperial provincial coinage. The Greek legend ΓΑΙΟΣ ΚΑΙΣΑΡ encircles the bust within the coin's field, identifying the depicted ruler. The flan is slightly irregular, consistent with hand-struck provincial bronze issues of the Augustan period.
