Obverse description Bare head of Paullus Fabius Maximus, proconsul of Asia, facing right, depicted in the Roman portrait tradition with closely cropped hair. The effigy is rendered in moderate relief typical of provincial Phrygian bronze coinage of the Augustan period. The Greek legend ΦΑΒΙΟΣ ΜΑΞΙΜΟΣ encircles the portrait within the field, identifying the honoree.
