| Aversbeschreibung | Bare head of Gaius Caesar facing right, rendered in the youthful Hellenistic portrait style typical of provincial Phrygian coinage. The effigy displays close-cropped hair with naturalistic curls and an unadorned neck. The Greek legend ΓΑΙΟΣ appears in the field, identifying the subject as Gaius Caesar, grandson and heir of Augustus. The flan is irregular and the relief is moderately worn, consistent with a small hammered provincial bronze. |

| Reversbeschreibung | A laurel branch displayed upright and centrally within the coin field, its leafy fronds rendered in a stylised manner characteristic of Phrygian civic bronzes of the Augustan period. The two-line Greek legend ΙΕΡΑΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ ΛΥΝΚΕΥΣ occupies the surrounding field, identifying the issuing city of Hierapolis and the magistrate or civic authority Lynkeus. The reverse field shows considerable die wear and surface patination typical of circulated leaded bronze of this era. |

| Zusätzliche Informationen |
Hierapolis in Phrygia — not to be confused with the better-known Syrian city of the same name — was a modest civic center within the conventus of Cibyra, one of four assize districts Rome organized in Asia Minor for judicial administration. The ethnic ΙΕΡΑΠΟΛΕΙΤΩΝ on this issue is paired with the magistrate name ΛΥΝΚΕΥΣ, a personal name derived from the mythological Lynceus, sharp-eyed Argonaut. Civic bronzes of this scale were produced for local exchange rather than inter-city commerce, and survival in any condition is genuinely uncommon for issues this small.
