Reverse description A crocodile, the sacred animal of Egypt associated with the god Sobek, advances to the left atop a groundline, wearing a solar disk upon its head in reference to its divine attributes. The nome inscription ΟΝΟΥΦΙ appears in the field, identifying this issue with the Onuphite nome of Lower Egypt. The regnal date L ΙΑ (Year 11) is inscribed in the exergue below the groundline, confirming the issue to the eleventh year of Hadrian's reign. The type is characteristic of the small bronze nome coinage struck at Alexandria under Hadrian.
