| 背面描述 | A small creature depicted in low relief at centre, identified tentatively as an eel or serpent in a curving posture, consistent with the aquatic and chthonic iconographic repertoire of Alexandrian provincial bronzes. The date regnal legend L ΙΑ (Year 11) appears in the field. The overall style is characteristic of the small-module Alexandrian obol series struck under the Flavian emperors. |

Year 11 of Domitian's reign — the period when his increasingly autocratic behavior had alienated the Senate to the point that damnatio memoriae would be declared immediately upon his assassination in 96 AD. Provincial bronze from Alexandria in this era was struck under the prefecture of Egypt, a post of extraordinary sensitivity: emperors deliberately barred senators from holding it, appointing equestrians instead, precisely because Egypt's grain supply gave whoever controlled it leverage over Rome itself.
