Year 6 of Domitian's reign in Egypt corresponds to 86–87 AD, a period when the Alexandria mint was producing a high volume of small bronzes for everyday local transactions. Egyptian coinage operated on a closed currency system — Roman silver was barred from circulation in the province, forcing the mint to supply all denominations locally. These smallest bronzes, the workhorses of the system, circulated hard and survived poorly.
