Obverse description Bare head of Germanicus facing right, rendered in the conventional portrait style of the Julio-Claudian period. The youthful, unadorned effigy displays characteristic features of the prince, with a smooth neck truncation. The Greek legend ΓΕΡΜΑΝΙΚΟΣ runs around the portrait in the field, identifying the subject. The die work is typical of Phrygian provincial coinage of the early imperial era.
