Additional information

Year 19 of Hadrian's reign fell during his second extended stay in Egypt, a visit that followed the catastrophic Jewish revolt of 132–135 AD — the Bar Kokhba uprising — which had convulsed the eastern provinces for three years. Alexandria's mint was producing small bronze at pace throughout this period, partly to meet the practical demands of a province absorbing the administrative and military fallout of that war.
