Hadrian visited Egypt in 130 AD — one of the most consequential imperial tours of the province, culminating in the drowning of his favourite Antinous in the Nile and the founding of Antinoöpolis. Alexandrian civic bronzes of his reign were issued on a regnal-year system, with the L followed by a Greek numeral denoting the Egyptian regnal year. L ΙΑ places this piece in year 11, corresponding to 126/127 AD, well before that ill-fated visit.
