Æ12 - Hadrian ΟΑϹΙϹ ΜΕΓ, L ΙΑ

Alexandria's smallest bronzes from the Hadrianic period were essentially token coinage, circulating in a monetized economy where the Roman administration maintained Egypt as a closed currency zone — foreign coins were exchanged at the border and melted. The "L ΙΑ" regnal date places this piece in Hadrian's eleventh year, 126/127 AD. Oasis Magna, the large western desert oasis now known as Kharga, was administered as a distinct nome, and issues citing it are among the more geographically specific in the Alexandrian provincial series.
