Year 11 of Trajan's reign in Egypt — 107/108 AD — falls squarely in the middle of the Dacian Wars, with the second campaign concluding in 106 AD and Dacia formally absorbed as a Roman province. Alexandria's bronze output in these years was prodigious, feeding a monetized economy that Rome increasingly relied on for grain and tax revenue. Small bronzes of this size circulated in the lowest register of daily Egyptian commerce, handling transactions that silver would never touch.
