Obverse description Lion passant to right with tail raised and curled over the back, rendered in a bold, stylized manner characteristic of early Deccan coinage. The body of the lion is depicted with exaggerated musculature and a prominent mane suggested by incuse curvilinear lines. The design is set within a beaded or dotted border on an irregularly shaped flan. The overall execution reflects the local artistic conventions of the Vishnukundin period in the Eastern Deccan region.
