| Beschrijving keerzijde | Reverse bears a Brahmi legend arranged across the field, reading 'Rama Gupta', the inscription executed in the early Brahmi script characteristic of late 4th-century Gupta copper issues. The characters are boldly rendered despite the crude workmanship of the flan, and remain partially legible against the worn, patinated surface. The overall style is consistent with the debased copper coinage attributed to Ramagupta, the short-reigning Gupta sovereign of circa 375-376 CE. |
