Obverse description Helmeted head of Athena facing left, rendered in fine relief characteristic of 4th–3rd century BC Aeolian coinage. The goddess wears a Corinthian helmet pushed back on the head, with a prominent crest and cheek guards partially raised, revealing her facial features. Flowing hair falls in wavy locks behind the neck, framing the portrait with naturalistic detail. The overall style reflects the accomplished die-cutting of the Elaeatic mint.

Reverse description A single grain of barley or wheat, depicted upright in high relief, enclosed within a carefully rendered laurel wreath whose branches curve symmetrically to meet at the base of the design. The abbreviation ΕΛ (for Elaia) appears in the field to either side of the grain, flanking the central device. Below the wreath, the magistrate's name ΠΟΛΥΖΗ (Polyzes) is inscribed in the exergue in clear Greek characters, identifying the issuing authority responsible for this emission.
