| Beschrijving voorzijde | Diademed and draped bust of Emperor Leo I facing right, rendered in the late Roman imperial style typical of fifth-century nummi. The obverse legend D N L-EO appears partially around the bust, identifying the emperor as Dominus Noster Leo. The flan is small and irregularly struck, consistent with the diminutive nummus denomination of this period. Surface patination and encrustation obscure fine detail, though the general profile of the imperial effigy remains discernible. The workmanship reflects the declining technical standards of late Roman bronze coinage at the Constantinople mint. |
