背面描述 Eagle standing left with wings closed, perched upon a thunderbolt depicted with radiating bolts; a monogram appears in the upper field to the right of the eagle on some specimens. The Greek royal legend is inscribed in two lines above and below the central device, reading ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩΣ in the upper field and ΜΟΣΤΙΔΟΣ in the lower exergual area, identifying this issue as a royal coinage of King Mostis of the Caeni.

附加信息

The Caeni were a minor Thracian tribe whose territory sat in the hinterland between the Hebros valley and the Aegean coast — a region increasingly squeezed by Roman administrative expansion following the organization of Macedonia as a province in 146 BC. Mostis was their dynast, one of several local rulers who continued issuing bronze civic coinage well into the late second century, a privilege Rome tolerated from compliant client-adjacent communities. His issues are attested across multiple catalog traditions but remain poorly documented in terms of die studies.
