Reverse description A tall date palm occupies the center of the field, its fronds extending broadly to either side in a symmetrical arrangement. To the left of the palm trunk, a silphium plant is depicted — the celebrated medicinal plant emblematic of Cyrene — while a crab is positioned to the lower right. The Greek ethnic legend KYPA (an abbreviation of KYPAΝΑΙΩΝ) is inscribed in two lines flanking the base of the palm trunk, with K and Y to the left and P and A to the right.
