The winged horse is depicted with careful anatomical detail, including musculature of the haunches and the feathering of the large upswept wings. The reverse field is otherwise plain, with no encircling legend, consistent with the early issues of Hieron II's bronze coinage. The coin shows a fine green patina with good relief on the central type. |
